A look into the Chopard 78th Cannes Red Carpet collection

By Audrey Simon 15 May, 2025

The Chopard 78th Cannes Red Carpet collection, inspired by artistic director of Chopard, is a unique story that stands out as one of the most imaginative and breathtaking high jewellery collections to date

Chopard’s artistic director Caroline Scheufele is known for her meticulous journaling, often recording her inspirations and experiences. Whether inspired by architecture, painting, literature, dance, music, or cinema, every detail has the potential to fire up her imagination and translate it into high jewellery.

Since launching her first Red Carpet Haute Joaillerie collection in 2005 to mark the Cannes Film Festival’s 60th anniversary, Scheufele has created jewellery that tells stories that are rooted in her heritage, passions, and her vision of the world. With each piece, she expresses her emotions and artistic sensibility, celebrating beauty, nature, and culture.

Building on themes like ‘Cinema,’ ‘Arts,’ and ‘Contes de Fées,’ the 2025 Red Carpet Collection explores Caroline Scheufele’s personal universe rather than just her passions. Uncovering her inner world offers a nuanced portrait of her multifaceted personality—much like a diamond, multifaceted and radiant. Inspired by animals, flowers, couture, gems, the cosmos, and the heart, ‘Caroline’s Universe’ showcases the creative spirit behind Chopard’s most visionary Haute Joaillerie collection.

This year, the maison unveils 78 Haute Joaillerie creations, each one crafted with exceptional skill and daring designs, inspired by nature, art, and the cosmos, reflecting Scheufele’s boundless creativity.

Having grown up surrounded by her family’s expertise in gemstones, Scheufele has a lifelong passion for sourcing rare coloured diamonds, emeralds, and sapphires—often from her most treasured collections, such as the La Vie en Rose pink diamonds and the Insofu emeralds. Each gem reflects her fascination with the marvels of nature and celestial influences, creating a universe where the divine and the earthly meet.

The diversity of her collections mirrors her personality. From animal-inspired sculptures like the 2010 Animal World series—featuring lions, leopards, and a charming lion cub—to floral motifs such as a rose crafted in ethical gold or opal-embellished earrings that evoke blooming gardens, her designs are deeply personal.

Her passion for couture is demonstrated through intricate, lace-inspired jewellery. Notable collections include the 2015 Precious Lace and the 2023 debut her fashion collection, Caroline’s Couture, at Cannes, which is an ode to craftsmanship and femininity.

Celestial themes also play a significant role, with necklaces inspired by the cosmos, such as a black diamond panther perched on a crescent moon or a zodiac-themed snake encrusted with diamonds and emeralds, each symbolising her belief in the universe’s divine harmony. Her iconic motif, the heart, represents her view of family and love. It inspires the Happy Hearts collection and vibrant contemporary designs in aluminium, set with rubies and sapphires.

Scheufele’s visionary approach continues to elevate jewellery to new heights. Since 2013, she has championed ethical gold through Chopard’s “Journey to Sustainable Luxury”. Through her creations, she balances art, emotion, and sustainability, transforming each piece into a symbol of her creative universe and her commitment to beauty beyond fashion.
