Where time stands still

1.01-carat natural fancy vivid blue diamond

Only 2 per cent of gem-quality diamonds are coloured, and of these, one in 30 million of these diamonds are blue – it’s no wonder then that the vivid hue and incredible rarity of blue diamonds have captured the imagination of magpies.

Most diamonds sport a secondary hue, which intensifies the beauty of the stone. Here, this World of Diamonds 1.01-carat blue diamond, which the owner of the Concourse Skyline Penthouse will get to call theirs, sports a lovely secondary green shade, that scintillates with limpid brilliance.

It’s no surprise that the price for blue diamonds is rocket-high, commanding at least US$2 million per carat. According to Diamond Investment & Intelligence Centre, only 58 fancy intense, 50 fancy vivid and 13 fancy deep blue diamonds have appeared in Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Bonhams auctions since November 1999.

Ownership of the diamond also comes with a Singapore Air Charter membership, allowing the Penthouse’s owner to charter a Global 6000 — fitted to carry up to 12 passengers — for 40 hours.
