Hendrick’s Sunset Cinema, the alfresco film series, is back this May–pairing award-winning movies with Hendrick’s Gin libations, wireless headphones, and golden-hour views at Singapore’s most atmospheric stretch of sand
There’s movie night, and then there’s Hendrick’s Sunset Cinema. From 8 to 25 May 2025, the open-air film series returns to Tanjong Beach with an irresistible blend of cinema, cocktails, and seaside calm. Now a regular fixture on Singapore’s cultural calendar, the event redefines “dinner and a movie” as a sundown ritual of escapism, best served with sand between your toes and a glass of Hendrick’s Cucumber Lemonade in hand.
Across more than a dozen nights, cinephiles can expect an eclectic lineup of critically acclaimed films. From the Cannes-winning The Substance to We Live In Time, a romantic comedy starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, the programme spans drama, documentary, nostalgia and the odd thrill. Highlights also include Free Solo, Gladiator II, Conclave, Dìdi, and Better Man, among others, each screened under a canopy of stars with audio delivered via state-of-the-art wireless headphones.

But this is no rush-to-your-seat affair. Guests are encouraged to arrive from 5:30pm to soak in the pre-show energy: sunsets cresting over the water, a resident DJ spinning breezy summer rhythms, and a convivial bar scene fuelled by Hendrick’s Gin’s signature pours. Think classic gin (Hendrick’s of course) and tonic, or the ever-refreshing Cucumber Lemonade. A complimentary cocktail awaits all guests who “Ring for Refreshment” at the entrance—a delightful nod to the brand’s offbeat charm.

Each ticket (S$44.80) includes a beach deck chair, your chosen gin tipple, silent cinema headphones, and complimentary shuttle service post-screening to Harbourfront MRT at VivoCity. Films will begin promptly at 7:45pm, but golden hour begins long before that. Whether it’s a date night with atmosphere or a quiet celebration of good films and better company, Hendrick’s Sunset Cinema delivers the rare kind of evening that lingers long after the credits roll.
