A night of fast cars with Aston Martin

Aston Martin test drive with Robb Report singapore

Going up to 11

Earlier this month, the relative peace of Labrador park was rocked somewhat by a high-octane quartet of supercars from Aston Martin.

In conjunction with Wearnes Automotive, the official dealers for Aston Martin in Singapore, Robb Report Singapore invited some 30 guests to sample a selection of the British carmaker’s offerings here. Those models included the all-new DB11, along with the V8 Vantage S, Rapide S and Vanquish.

Road Runners
The DB11 impressed guests with its surefooted handling, top-notch interiors and of course, the drama provided by its 600bhp, 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12. Ryan Marsden hailed its throttle response as “excellent, really quite spectacular” and Eric Neo said he liked the DB11 for its “extremely sharp steering”.

In addition to the cars, the VIP guests were also treated to fine Thai dining at Tamarind Hill and French wines from Corndale Consultants.

Robb Report Singapore’s publisher, Michael von Schlippe opened the evening with a speech affirming the winning combination of fast cars and fine wine, and that James Bond has impeccable taste in cars (amongst other objects).

Raymond Ng, general manager of Aston Martin Singapore then welcomed the gathered guests, thanked them for their attendance and extended an invitation to the Aston Martin showroom on Leng Kee Road for further test drives, if they so desired.

The aftermath
During dinner, right before the main course (a choice of either cod loin or a Wagyu steak), Corndale Consultant’s co-founder, Herve Aymond presented the wines that would be paired with the three courses. The showpiece wine being a 1940 Rivesaltes Chateau Sisqueille, which was served during dessert.

An all-round entertaining evening was had by all, a mood the rain earlier in the afternoon failed to dampen.
