Asking for a friend: Does one feel the pinch less since it’s not cold, hard cash?

Would you like your moisturiser with a drop of cucumber extract, a sprinkling of tsubaki seed oil, and the click of a button on your crypto wallet? MTM Labo, the skincare brand that prides itself on offering custom-blended skincare to suit every type of skin, has just announced its partnership with Fomo Pay to provide payment options to suit every type of wallet.

By that, we are referring to digital wallets carrying digital currencies, of course. The move makes MTM Labo the first skincare brand to accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment in Singapore.

Fomo Pay is a locally-based payment and banking solutions provider that offers a suite of payment services, including e-wallets, credit cards, and buy-now-pay-later solutions. Customers using cryptocurrency—Fomo Pay accepts Tether, USD Coin, Ethereum, and Bitcoin—simply scan a QR code at checkout to pay.

Kelly Keak, managing director of MTM Labo says, “We want to offer this option as a testament that MTM Labo is a brand that keeps up with them (the younger customers). As with all technologies, it could take off overnight. We would like to be at the forefront of such advancements, rather than play catch-up.

To celebrate the new payment option, the brand is offering 15 per cent off its Complete custom-blended treatment care package (usual price: up to S$14,620) to every customer who pays by cryptocurrency until the end of the year. The package includes 10 sessions each of the Clearwater facial, custom-blended eye treatments, custom-blended neck treatments, and custom-blended facial treatments. The first 50 customers to use cryptocurrency will also enjoy a complimentary tube of the 3D Collamoist lip treatment.

The only catch? Cryptocurrency can only be used on purchases S$10,000 and above.
