Revivo Wellness Resort Bali offers a guilt-free retreat

By Haziq Yusof 11 June, 2025

Revivo Wellness Resort Bali will cajole even the most stubborn workaholic into taking a well-deserved rest

One bird. No, two. I’m lying beneath a tree, counting birds in a state of languid reverie. I’m not working. Worse still, I don’t feel guilty about it. If you’re a fellow Singaporean, you’d understand. A masochistic obsession with work isn’t uniquely Singaporean, but few around the world carry it with such bizarre dignity.

After all, when you’ve been told since childhood that your tiny dot of a country must maximise its workforce to survive, a workaholic streak feels almost patriotic. This hyperfixation on work is part of why wellness resorts have become a balm for Singaporeans in recent years. Fortunately for us, Revivo Wellness Resort—a serene retreat where the weary can go to unwind—is just a three-hour flight away, in Nusa Dua, Bali.

A Quiet Embrace

“All you need is a tree,” says Jayvant Bhagattjee, my assigned wellness consultant. I raise an eyebrow. I know I am running on empty but what he is suggesting seems extreme.

“To lie down under,” he clarifies.

Every trip to Revivo Wellness begins with a consultation with one of its wellness consultants. In truth, the process begins even before you arrive; guests are expected to complete a comprehensive questionnaire before their stay to elucidate their energy levels, lifestyle, and wellness goals. A wellness consultant will then use the questionnaire to design a personalised programme and meal plan tailored to your needs and goals.

Speaking of programmes, the resort offers six signature retreats that are designed to help you rejuvenate your body or mind in the most targeted way possible. Requiring you to stay a minimum of three or five nights, depending on your chosen retreat, these offerings deliver specialised and holistic programmes that promise to destress the mind, balance emotions, detox the body, or lose weight.

Of course, during your consultation, you can always ask to change aspects of the programme or meal plan should you wish for something else. Or, if you appear as drained, as I must have, then your wellness consultant may reduce your programme to a series of light exercises and stretching sessions while you rest and reconnect with nature.

A quiet embrace with nature is perhaps the most natural thing to do at the resort. Located 25 minutes away from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Revivo Wellness is hidden from the main roads, tucked away on a stretch of land that is enveloped by serene shrubbery. The resort is populated with clusters of manicured greens and sports pathways lined with lush leafy trees that provide ample shade from the sun.

There’s a cherished sense of stillness within the resort’s 22 suites and villas. The silence is loud but comforting. On the rare occasion that you bump into a fellow guest, it’s more likely to be a solo traveller than a bustling group of friends or a family. While the spacious 126sqm to 142sqm suites with sampan baths are more than equipped to induce a state of relaxation, you’ll want to opt for a private villa with a pool for maximum comfort.

In these intimate and secluded villas, you’ll have free rein to soak in the breeze, sunlight, and all the raw Balinese elements. It may not sound like much. But away from an avalanche of tasks and deadlines, a quiet exhale among the euphoric cries of mynahs can make even the most measured of spirits flutter.

Sense And Serenity

“There’s no way I scored this poorly,” I say. I smirk, immediately aware of the absurdity of my self-assessment. I have just finished a Rebalancing session at the resort’s Vitality Centre and am looking at a hexagonal data chart that tracks how relaxed and immersed I was during the session. As you might expect, nothing but a perfect score will satiate my Singaporean heart. Even rest must be optimised.

Rebalancing, or Rebalance Impulse Neuro-relaxation Therapy, is a hypnotherapy-like programme that is designed to lull you into a meditative state. Before the session begins, you’re asked to choose an objective, with options ranging from better sleep and stress management to improving memory and concentration. You then lie down in a dark and quiet room while looking at a cluster of soft and flickering multicoloured lights.

As you’re doing so, a pre-recorded voice plays through a pair of headphones, guiding you through a series of breathing exercises while two tracking devices, placed around your wrist and forehead, measure your heart rate, breathing, and brain activity. The aim, it seems, is to create new associations within your brain that will help you return to a meditative state during times of stress or tiredness.

These rebalancing sessions are only one part of the Vitality Centre. Separated from the rest of the resort, the centre offers biohacking and advanced wellness solutions, including intravenous and electromagnetic therapies. Beyond its location, the centre is also separated from the main resort through its design. Rather than the traditional Balinese alang-alang roofs that adorn the structures of the resort, the Vitality Centre has modern fittings and materials.

While experienced wellness travellers will be naturally drawn to the resort’s latest and modern offerings, the heart and soul of this seven-year-old resort remain rooted in its traditional programmes and services. Morning wellness shots, private yoga sessions on land and water, and tailored meal plans are far from new in the wellness space. Even the resort’s more intriguing amenities like its ice baths and infrared saunas are not novel.

Yet, at Revivo Wellness Resort Bali, it is the simple and quiet act of rest that stays with you. All you need, as this writer is learning, is a tree to lie under.
