United by their aluminium expertise, Rimowa and Vitra share a common foundation
It was only natural that a home design company and a luxury luggage brand would discover their shared heritage and collaborate on the Rimowa Vitra 2025 collection. The unifying element is aluminium—an enduring and versatile material refined through decades of expertise by both brands.
Both companies are committed to combining innovative design, precise engineering, and expert craftsmanship to produce functional, durable, and high-quality pieces. Notable examples include Vitra’s Eames Aluminium Chair and Rimowa’s renowned Original and Classic suitcase collections.
In 1958, Charles and Ray Eames designed the Eames Aluminium Chair by replacing the traditional seat shell with a fabric or leather panel stretched between two aluminium side members, creating a seat that is both taut and flexible.
Inspired by the early days of aviation, Rimowa used aluminium to create its lightweight suitcases. These became symbols of modernity and resilience, allowing luggage to withstand the rigours of travel like never before.

This exceptional collaboration introduces two limited-edition products: the Aluminium Stool and the Aluminium Toolbox.
The Aluminium Stool is a mobile cube made from Rimowa’s iconic grooved aluminium, featuring the Ferman Maison’s Multiwheel system for effortless movement. When opened, it reveals an interior upholstered with Vitra fabric, offering storage for various essentials. A removable leather divider ensures organisation, while the lid’s detachable seat cushion offers comfort.

The Aluminium Toolbox draws inspiration from the Vitra Toolbox, originally designed by Arik Levy in 2010. Reimagined with Rimowa’s signature anodised aluminium casing, it replaces the original plastic construct. Reflecting a commitment to sustainability, the interior compartments are lined with recycled fabric, making it both functional and eco-friendly.
