Some 20 years in the business has seen Angelito Tan starting and exiting a series of companies in the luxury sector, engaged in varied capacities ranging from business advisory, branding and retail. Explaining his fascination for the luxury goods business, Tan explains: “What I am most passionate about is which skill sets and tools, both traditional and emerging, and in what combinations, can strengthen luxury brands.”
Today, Tan is the founding partner and CEO of RTG Group Asia, a business advisory and investment firm with a particular focus on helping public and private sector organisations thrive in Asia. In evaluating success, Tan sees this in moments as opposed to a linear goal. “When I know that our organisation was able to add demonstrable value that ultimately makes things ‘better’, that’s enough for me.” For Tan, RTG Group Asia is very much a business built on values.

What with supply disruptions and market upheavals, the luxury sector is undergoing pivotal changes that present a challenge for business leaders and analysts trying to chart the best course forward. On Tan’s part, he is paying particular attention to emerging technologies. “I’m very fascinated with how emerging technologies are going to affect luxury, an industry that innately is very traditional. With so many wonderful advancements in technology, particularly in the metaverse space, there is still quite a bit of practical applications to be explored in luxury. My group is doing some very cool things in this space that we’ll be announcing in the near future.”
