Commemorating this bicentennial anniversary year is Tales of The Macallan Volume II, a tribute to founder Alexander Reid and his journey to ultimate mastery

200 years have passed since the founding of The Macallan. A long time indeed, but with an unwavering commitment to quality, craftsmanship and delicious whisky, it only makes sense that the brand continues to stand the test of time.

It also makes good sense to celebrate. Commemorating this bicentennial anniversary year is the recently launched Tales of The Macallan Volume II. As a tribute to founder Alexander Reid and his journey to ultimate mastery, it tells Reid’s story and standards of excellence that have guided successive generations of whisky makers through the years. Patience, perfection and small stills, which he believed to produce better flavour, have been key to The Macallan’s DNA since day one.

Tales of The Macallan Volume II is a remarkable single malt in a remarkable crystal decanter. The liquid, crafted by lead whisky maker Euan Kennedy, is a 1949 vintage that was bottled in 2022 at the peak of maturation. Displaying beautiful tones of bronzed oak and red hues that reflect the Reid surname—meaning, ‘the red one’—it is a rare single malt that possesses a complexity and lingering smokiness, reminiscent of the whiskies of Reid’s time.

The decanter, by none other than Lalique, features etches of Reid by Andrew Davidson, a British artist known for applying wood engravings to traditional print techniques. It also comes concealed within an almanac that narrates Reid’s story through more illustrations by Davidson.

Yours for S$122,500 at The Macallan House Singapore. Only 344 decanters are available worldwide.
