Where to celebrate Father’s Day

It’s high time we treat Dad to a memorable feast

When it comes to celebrating Father’s Day, the spotlight that shines on Dad may never be as bright as Mom’s on Mother’s Day. This year, we’re determined to turn things around. And naturally, one of the ways to show our admiration and appreciation for Dad is through some brilliant, mouth-watering fare. Whether he is the ultimate seafood or meat lover, or an individual who embraces all cuisines, we’re certain these six restaurants will promise Dad a hell of a good time, and also a whole lot of booze.

Ps: If Dad doesn’t want a meal, treat him to a spa sesh at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa!

1919 Waterboat House

If Dad isn’t one for huge buffets, we suggest treating him to the Classic Father’s Day Brunch at 1919 Waterboat House. The semi-buffet brunch takes the form of a savoury four-course French menu, dishing out classics like Black Truffle Mac and Cheese, Beer-Battered Fish Fritters and a humongous meat platter. Then come the mains, where dad can select his favourite from the list that includes Roasted Beef Angus Ribeye, Spiced Iberico Pluma Pork, Grilled BBQ Chicken and Kadaif Wrapped Tiger Prawns.

Dad’s also never too old to craft his childhood drink. In fact, join him at the float station, and watch him concoct his own beverage with a selection of ice cream, soft drinks and sugary garnishes. It’ll just be like the good old days.

Capella Singapore

Since all eyes are still on the Trump-Kim Summit at Capella Singapore that happened yesterday, we’d like to take the golden opportunity to recommend the hotel’s Brunch on Route 66.

This special Father’s Day offering will transform The Knolls into a racing track, serving up dishes such as Foie Gras Terrine with Cherry Puree, Slow cooked Grilled Pork Ribs with Whisky BBQ Glaze and Roasted Lamb Leg. The deal clincher? Dad gets to hop onto a Harley Davidson bike for a complimentary ride during brunch.

Mitzo Restaurant & Bar

When Cantonese fare comes to play, Mitzo’s six-course menu is to be highly considered especially if it’s Dad’s favourite cuisine. Relish appetisers that take the form of Bonito Barbecued Pork, Prawn in Osmanthus Caviar Mayonnaise, and Drunken Chicken in Aged Rice Wine.

Make sure Dad paces himself, because he will have to ‘conquer’ heavy mains such as Baked Lobster, Garlic-infused Pork Ribs as well as Scallop Fried Rice with “Petai” and Dried Shrimp.

A sweet treat awaits: Chilled Creamy Pumpkin Puree and Purple Sweet Potato Ice-cream with Deep-fried Green Tea Dumpling. Don’t know about you, but we are sure looking forward to the dessert.

Time: 12pm – 2:30pm (Lunch); 6:30pm – 10:30pm (Dinner)

The Song of India

Kashmir and Lucknow are both the inspiration for The Song of India’s Father’s Day brunch menu. Dad can look forward to Chef Manjunath Mural’s Lucknowi Chicken Biryani, and if he’s a vegetarian, dig into scrumptious signatures such as Kashmiri Lotus Root Korma, where lotus roots are cooked in a thick, creamy curry.

A special live station offering traditional Rice Hoppers with Coconut Pumpkin Stew, a popular street food from Kerala, will also be at your disposal. If a dinner celebration is the go-to option, a four-course dinner will have Dad revel in Chicken Spinach Roulade, Hyderabadi Lamb Shish Kebab and a homemade masala tea Rose Gulkand Kulfi. Oh, have we mentioned that Dad gets to dine in for free with a group of four diners?

Date: 16 and 17 June
Time: 11.30am and 1.30pm (Brunch, first and second seating); 6pm to 11pm (Dinner)

We can’t think of a better way for Dad to decompress than with a free-flow of beer, bubbly and cocktails. Yes, booze will be Dad’s best friend at W Singapore this Father’s Day. Daddy’s Day Out will have Dad delve into fresh sashimi, shucked oysters, tuna tartare and oysters Kilpatrick.

He’ll also find whole carveries roasted to perfection – Stuffed Suckling Pig, Roast Lamb Leg on the Bone, Prime Ribs and Beef Leg among others. Dad may even stand a chance to win vouchers from We Need A Hero, a night’s stay in the swanky Marvelous Suite or an exclusive weekend ride in the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
