Toto merges advanced technology with elegant design to create innovative products that enhance hygiene and elevate everyday living
Advanced technology. Elegant design. Ingenious solutions. These hallmarks of luxury automobiles and haute horology are equally integral to Toto, a company that has redefined an essential aspect of daily life—the bathroom.
When Toto was founded in Japan in 1917, the founders aimed to establish a brand that enhanced lifestyles and cultivated a culture centred around plumbing products. More than a hundred years later, the company has continued its evolution by consistently launching state-of the-art products that elevate bathroom experiences.

Revolutionary comfort and hygiene
Among its most groundbreaking innovations is the Toto Washlet TCF47360GSG, which has transformed bathroom habits since its debut in 1980. For the uninitiated, a Washlet is a high-tech toilet seat equipped with a built-in bidet, heated seat, and remote control—ushering in a new standard of comfort and hygiene.
Designed to provide a more comfortable and hygienic experience, the Toto Washlet was the first to introduce a built-in cleansing experience after using the restroom. This is achieved through Air-in Wonder-wave technology, which uses air-rich water droplets to produce a soothing washing sensation and deliver a more thorough cleanse with less water consumption.
Recently, Toto introduced the S7, a minimalist design that fits perfectly into a modern home and appeals to homeowners looking to renovate their bathrooms. Dubbed Toto’s “perfect” Washlet, it is crafted with sinuous curves that are 25 per cent slimmer than its predecessors, and features a rimless seat rim that enhances comfort and hygiene.
When it comes to functionality, the S7 delivers on all fronts. The Washlet S7 combines modern technology with intuitive features such as an automatic open/close lid, heated seat, deodoriser, multi-function massage faucet, automatic flush, and a night light. It also comes with a remote control system with a set of simple function keys that can be operated with minimal fuss by even children and the elderly.
Next-level design
For the discerning homeowner, the Neorest NX offers an ultra-luxurious fusion of aesthetics and innovation. Conceived as a toilet for the future, its design was spearheaded by Yuji Yoshioka, who sought to eliminate the conventional toilet’s stark utilitarianism.
Ceramics, rather than resins, feature strongly in the Neorest NX’s construction. Yoshioka explains that the material is utilised because it are easier to shape and mould. “I thought a rounded shape, taking advantage of this property, would be the most natural way to express softness and elegance, reminiscent of an antique porcelain jar,” he adds.
Yoshioka aimed to transform the bowl’s appearance so it would not resemble a conventional toilet upon lifting the lid, ensuring beauty whether the lid was open or closed. The elimination of visible gaps and seams accentuates its sculptural profile while also enabling Toto’s signature Tornado Flush system—where water jets are strategically expelled from the front of the bowl, channelling through a hairpin curve to ensure a deep, efficient cleanse.
Powered by sustained water pressure, this intelligent technology tackles areas prone to waste accumulation with remarkable precision. The result? A bathroom experience that goes beyond mere functionality and enters the realm of luxury and comfort, further demonstrating Toto’s knack for melding advanced engineering with refined aesthetics.
