Chance of a Lifetime

It’s an experience that money cannot buy – or can it? Longines has just made a very special timepiece for its Ambassador of Elegance, Kate Winslet, but it’s not something you could just saunter into its stores to get. The Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet is so rare that there are only five of them in the world, and two have already been spoken for. One was destined for the wrist of Winslet herself and the other, for posterity in the Longines museum.

Just five have been made, and only three are up for auction

The remaining three may be yours to have but only if you act fast. From today to 30 June, this watch will be on auction. All proceeds of the sale will go towards the Golden Hat Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to autism and helping the people who are affected by it. Founded by Winslet and Margaret D Ericsdottir, the organisation aims to bring autism awareness to a new level by focusing on abilities and changing negative stigmas.

But perhaps the ultimate reward for winning the bid on this watch is that once in a lifetime chance to meet Winslet in person and have her thank you for your graciousness and philanthropy. Not only that, the multiple-award-winning actress will also be the one to hand you the prized timepiece, so it’s probably a good idea to start getting camera-ready and arm yourself with as much Hollywood trivia as you can remember.

Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet: How it began
On a visit to the Longines manufacture in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, Winslet was drawn to a historical model in yellow gold, with a refined design dating back to the beginnings of the Longines Flagship collection. She then discovered another watch from the same era with a silvered dial, and was drawn to its minimalist aesthetics. These two elements fused in the Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet, a unique and signed five-piece limited edition watch.

The vintage style 35mm case houses a self-winding mechanical movement while the solid 18k yellow gold case back bears a stamped flagship as well as the inscription ‘by Kate Winslet’. The dial is in brushed silver with gilt dauphine hands, and comes with applied Arabic numerals as well as indexes. A camel calf leather strap and yellow gold pin buckle completes this elegant wristwatch.
