The Oyster 805 promises a superyacht-like sailing experience

Anyone who’s had the pleasure of taking the helm of a sailing yacht can attest to the unmistakable thrill that comes with it. That thrill, however, is often traded for the space and amenities typically reserved for motoryachts. Oyster Yachts—a British shipyard with a distinguished pedigree in crafting bluewater thoroughbreds—has long championed the idea that the two qualities need not be mutually exclusive.

Case in point: the Oyster 805. Measuring just over 25 meters, the shipyard’s latest sailing yacht promises all the exhilaration of a wind-powered cruiser, wrapped in a superyacht-like package. Designed by Humphreys Yacht Design, the vessel sports a refined, elongated profile that builds on Oyster’s familiar design language. Couple this with the Oyster 805’s low silhouette and subtle sheerline, and you have a vessel that always looks poised to race through the open seas.

Positioned between the Oyster 745 (the shipyard’s more modest, 22.7m sailing yacht) and the larger 27m Oyster 885 Series II, the Oyster 805 is immediately distinguishable from its large floor-to-ceiling windows as well as three sets of enlarged Seascape windows, compared to its siblings’ two.

It is, however, on deck that the vessel’s superyacht-like allure becomes apparent. The yacht’s foredeck houses a sunken tender well that can double as a lounge area, offering versatility without compromising stowage. The aft, meanwhile, is equipped with a twin-access bathing platform—complete with integrated shower—that facilitates swimming, boarding, or simply relaxing at anchor.

Below deck, the 805 offers a level of customisation not typically seen in a sailing yacht in this class. The standard layout includes four en-suite cabins, but owners can reconfigure spaces to suit their needs—whether that means creating a dedicated gym, office, snug, or library. The saloon itself is expansive and bright, thanks to the enlarged hull and deck windows. It can also be outfitted with a built-in day bar and a lounge area which faces out toward the sea through panoramic glazing.

From a performance standpoint, the 805 remains true to Oyster’s bluewater DNA. It features a powerful 345.75 sqm sail area and benefits from the latest powered sail-handling systems. The hull is designed for hydrodynamic efficiency and comfort offshore, with the option of either a standard 3.42-metre keel or a shoal-draft 2.67-metre version for increased anchorage flexibility. Despite its 64,700 kg displacement, the yacht is engineered for easy handling by a small crew or even an experienced couple.
