The best dressed men at this year’s Golden Globes: Pierce Brosnan, Rami Malek, Tom Hanks and more

Justin Fenner

07 January, 2020

From velvet jackets to unexpected accessories, here’s what helped these stars stand out

With 2019’s holidays firmly in the rearview mirror, the first celebratory season of the new decade began on Sunday with the 2020 Golden Globes. And the men who were nominated, or simply called on to present, dressed for the occasion with sharp tailoring from all corners of the sartorial spectrum. Director Barry Jenkins showed up in an abbreviated plaid suit from avant-garde designer Thom Brown, and Daniel Craig paid homage to Britain in a bespoke suit from Anderson & Sheppard. A closer look at those two gents – and all the guys who stood out – below.

Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig

There’s nothing quite like bespoke tailoring, something James Bond (and the man who plays him) know quite well. Daniel Craig made a wise choice in Anderson & Sheppard for the red carpet, and accented his double breasted tuxedo with a 007-level watch from Omega.

Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks wasn’t the only guy to wear a velvet jacket last night, but he may have done it best. The regal choice felt especially fitting when he accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

Wesley Snipes

Can everyone pull off a ’70s burgundy tuxedo with a ruffled pink shirt? No – of course not. But Wesley Snipes can – and the not-so-serious attitude he brought to the red carpet was a welcome break from a sea of standard-issue fare.

Pierce Brosnan with his sons and wife

The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Pierce Brosnan’s sons Paris (pictured left) and Dylan took pages out of their dad’s book and wore elegant single-breasted peak lapel tuxedos for their gig as trophy carriers during the Golden Globes ceremony. For a little contrast, Pierce chose a deep navy blue shirt instead of the traditional white.

Taika Waititi

Taika Waititi’s sartorial choices are as fearless as the ones he makes in his films, and his decision to pair a white dinner jacket with all-black everything is no exception.

Rami Malek with partner Lucy Boynton

Rami Malek

Thanks to a new campaign with Saint Laurent, Rami Malek just added model to his resume. So it’s no surprise that he’d wear the brand’s excellent menswear on the red carpet. He wins extra points for the tiniest bit of flair, thanks to a classic tank watch and a nail-shaped lapel pin, both from Cartier.

Barry Jenkins

If Barry Jenkins looked like he was having more fun than anyone else at the Golden Globes, that might be because of his Thom Browne suit.

Adam Scott

Adam Scott

The Big Little Lies star looked as slick and as modern as the HBO Show he stars in thanks to this green suit from Berluti.

Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt’s Brioni tuxedo is unimpeachable. There’s really not much more we can say.
