Academy Award-winning actress, director, and humanitarian, Angelina Jolie will present the Trophée Chopard award to two rising talents in the cinema world at this year’s Cannes Film Festival on 16 May
Since its inception in 2001, the Trophée Chopard has become a revered symbol of artistic excellence, honouring emerging talents whose work heralds a bold new chapter in cinema. More than a mere accolade, it is Chopard’s annual tribute to rising cinematic artistry, reaffirming the brand’s deep connection to the “seventh art” and its unwavering support for new voices in global cinema. Each year, Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director of Chopard, personally appoints a Godmother or Godfather — an esteemed luminary whose career and character embody the values of the award. Following in the footsteps of past icons such as Demi Moore, this year’s honour falls to Jolie, a figure whose artistry and advocacy have captivated audiences worldwide.

“I am so happy to welcome Angelina Jolie as our Trophée Chopard Godmother,” professes Scheufele. “Her amazing film career and dedication to making a difference in the world make her an ideal role model. I know the rising talents we honour this year will be inspired by her journey and advice.”

The selection of the laureates is entrusted to the Académie du Trophée Chopard — a collective of past recipients and former godparents, representing a lineage of creative excellence. At the 78th Cannes Film Festival, Jolie will crown Marie Colomb and Finn Bennett during the festival dinner co-hosted by the festival’s president, Iris Knobloch, general delegate, Thierry Frémaux. The honourees will receive a bespoke trophy, envisioned by Caroline Scheufele and crafted by Chopard’s master artisans—just like the Palme d’Or and all other trophies presented during the Cannes Film Festival’s closing ceremony.
