From ultra-smart SUVs powered by AI, 5C supercharging, to–get this–a humanoid robot that walks. 2025 is shaping up to be the boldest year for Xpeng yet

Let’s be honest: just a couple of years ago, Xpeng wasn’t exactly on anyone’s radar, outside China, that is. But if 2025 has made anything clear, it’s that the brand has no intention of staying in the shadows. In the space of a few months, Xpeng has gone from “emerging automaker” to tech disruptor, straddling multiple verticals–we’re talking artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and even flying vehicles. And it doesn’t seem like they’re slowing down.

After a triple reveal just months back in Hong Kong—complete with the debut of its 2025 flagship X9 MPV, a transformative AI-powered Tech Tree strategy, and the jaw-dropping showcase of the world’s first modular flying car Xpeng is ready to deliver in 2026—you’d think Xpeng might take a breather. No chance. Just last week, the brand turned its focus to Europe, launching two new ultra-smart electric SUVs: the new G6 and G9.

At a glance, both models arrive with refreshed exteriors, upgraded interiors, and the kind of fast-charging capabilities that could finally put range anxiety to rest.

At the core of these updates is Xpeng’s next-gen 800V high-voltage SiC platform, paired with the upgraded 5C supercharging battery system. In simpler terms? The new G9 can charge at up to 525kW, while the G6 tops out at 451kW—delivering an 80 per cent charge in just 12 minutes. That’s faster than most coffee breaks we’d take on a normal work day.

What’s worth noting is the leap from 3C to 5C battery architecture; not only does this upgrade allow for faster charging, it also offers better thermal management, longer-term safety, and a more sustainable alternative compared to its predecessor.

The list seems endless; the Chinese automaker made its official debut at the Hong Kong Auto Show showcasing its line-up of smart EVs, along with the cutting-edge IRON huΩmanoid robot and AEROHT Flying Car. Photo by Xpeng

Meanwhile, over at the Hong Kong Auto Show, Xpeng made another kind of headline with the debut of its humanoid robot, the Xpeng IRON. Developed by the brand’s robotics arm, Xpeng Robotics, the IRON is designed with real-world mobility in mind: it can navigate stairs, respond to voice commands, and even perform adaptive walking. Still in its early stages, the IRON hints at a future where Xpeng’s innovations aren’t just on the roads, but quite possibly walking beside you, too.

With its growing presence in Europe, a robust AI strategy, and a clear stake in future mobility, Xpeng is shaping a tech ecosystem like never before. Judging by the pace they’re moving, we’re just here along for the ride.
