Like owning a Porsche, surfing is a lifestyle choice that embraces the three Ps: performance, precision and passion… and not to mention a sense of community. They belong together, and if you’re in the market for a cool ride both on the tarmac and the sea, you’re in luck.

Yes, the German make is kicking into high summer gear, embracing laid-back California charm with a second collaboration with Almond Surfboards, a family-owned company from Costa Mesa. Handmade in California, the 1.8-metre-long surfboard is limited to 72 pieces, each following the distinctive colour palette of the 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 with a base of Grand Prix White and blue, red or green.

The boards also feature signature Carrera lettering, complete with a Porsche crest, Almond logo and ’72’ racing number in honour of the year this iconic sports car model was introduced. On the flip side, you will find another Porsche logo and a single fin that’s reminiscent of the coloured Fuchsfelge wheels.

Made with polyurethane foam with basswood stringers and a fibreglass shell finish, it’s a high-performance surfboard that will appeal not only to surfing enthusiasts and Porsche fans, but also to design aficionados. At least, that’s what Karsten von Engeln, president & CEO of Porsche Design of America, Inc. says. “It looks just as good in the water as it does on the roof of a Porsche, or on the wall in your home.”
