The Bowmore Sherry Oak Cask collection celebrates the distillery’s deep-rooted expertise in cask maturation and its esteemed tradition of ageing whisky in sherry-seasoned oak
The Bowmore Sherry Oak Cask collection includes 12-, 15-, and 18-year-old single malts, all matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and European oak sherry casks. The older expressions receive an additional finish in Pedro Ximénez casks, enhancing their depth, sweetness, and complexity. Pedro Ximénez (often abbreviated as PX) is both a grape variety and a rich, intensely sweet style of sherry wine produced primarily in Andalusia, Spain.
True to Bowmore’s style, each expression balances gentle coastal peat smoke with deep, fruity richness from sherry cask maturation, creating a harmonious blend of sweetness, spice, fruit, and smoke. The series demonstrates how sherry oak imparts layers of flavour and depth, with these casks enriching Bowmore’s signature character over time—adding notes of dried fruit, sweet spice, and nuttiness that meld seamlessly with its distinctive maritime smokiness.
For more than 240 years, Bowmore Distillery has stood proudly on the shores of Lochindaal, facing the rugged Atlantic Ocean. Home to the legendary No.1 Vaults and the ancient alchemy within, it is more than just an Islay distillery—it is the oldest on the island.
