The Devialet Astra is a powerful, fully integrated amplifier

The Devialet Astra is a seamless all-in-one amplifier designed for the fuss-averse audiophile

Devialet has always operated on its own frequency. Since its founding in Paris in 2007, the company has positioned itself as a technology powerhouse, striving to build meticulously engineered products that look nothing like their peers. The new Astra amplifier appears to be a natural extension of that philosophy.

At first glance, the Devialet Astra—with its brushed aluminium chassis, compact display, and two physical buttons—appears modest and unassuming. But behind the minimal exterior lies a fully integrated high-fidelity system capable of replacing the DAC that connects to your streamer, the phono stage for your turntable, the preamp to control your source, and the power amp that drives your speakers.

All of that is handled internally, coordinated by Devialet’s new DOS3 operating system. The result is a system that simplifies setup and reduces signal degradation, while delivering high-end performance. The unit delivers 2×300 watts into 4ohms in solo mode, or 2×600 watts in dual configuration. More than raw power, however, the Astra is defined by how much fuss-free control it provides.

Naturally, the Astra features the latest generation of Devialet’s Analog Digital Hybrid (ADH)—the brand’s signature technology that merges the sonic precision of analog Class A with the efficiency of digital Class D. Originally introduced in the D-Premier in 2010, ADH has now been refined for better thermal management and signal calibration, critical in a compact format like Astra.

The Devialet Astra also includes two understated technologies: Speaker Active Matching (SAM) and Record Active Matching (RAM). SAM pulls from a database of over 1,200 passive loudspeakers, adjusting output in real time to align phase and improve low-end performance. RAM, meanwhile, brings the same adaptive logic to vinyl playback, configuring the phono stage to match the specific characteristics of the cartridge and pressing. The result is a system that conforms to your setup rather than making you configure it yourself.

This principle extends to the design as well. Inspired by Art Deco, Astra’s surface is clean and confident. Even the more decorative Opéra de Paris edition, finished with hand-applied 23k gold leaf, remains visually restrained.

Of course, the Astra’s integrated nature won’t appeal to every listener. Those who prefer modular systems may see its closed format as limiting. But Devialet has never aimed to be modular, or accessible in the conventional sense. The Astra stays true to that identity—promising a complete and tightly engineered experience.
