DFS Craft Festival: Drink small-batch spirits and beers at Singapore Changi Airport from now till 31 October 2018

This inaugural event will have you sipping and sampling craft beers at all four terminals while you wait for your flight out of Singapore

It isn’t Christmas just yet, but ‘tis the time of booze and cocktails. While beer lovers are getting ready for Oktoberfest, luxury travel retailer DFS and Changi Airport Group have teamed up to bring you the first Craft Festival that celebrates small-batch whiskeys, gins and craft beers.

Held at Singapore Changi Airport across all four terminals from 21 September to 31 October 2018, the carnival-themed festival features a curation of more than 73 craft brands – each one steeped in heritage and rooted in artistry. Not to mention, many of these spirits take inspiration from local flavours, incorporating such nationally significant ingredients as orchids.

One such brand is the Tanglin Gin, a newly unveiled offering that’s also the first gin to be made in Singapore. Boasting notes of pine, coriander seed and dendrobium, this drink puts a modern twist to a traditional recipe that dates back to the 1760s.

Another gem of a gin to try at The Craft Festival is the Oxley Gin, which took eight years and 38 recipes to create. Distilled at sub-freezing temperatures, it heightens the aroma of its 14 botanicals and results in a drink so smooth it glides down your throat.

If beers are more your speed, you’ll love Archipelago Brewery’s selection of craft brews – namely, the malty Tok Gong American IPA, the refreshing Sibei Ho Witbier and the Ki Siao Brown Ale that tastes of chocolate, coffee and caramel. Other nectarean options include the new Whitley Neill Original Gin, Whitley Neill Rhubarb Ginger Gin, and Speyside’s blended malt whisky Copper Dog.

Mosey over to any duty-free store to enjoy complimentary tastings of these exclusive tipples, and while you’re at it, have a go at mixing a cocktail of your own and discovering which drinks match your personality as well. A host of brand ambassadors, distillers and brewers will also be on hand each weekend to share the stories behind each concoction.

Needless to say, no carnival is complete without games and entertainment. At The Craft Festival, each duty-free store has a sure win claw machine, where you’ll get to walk away with an assortment of prizes, the most covetable of which is an iPhone XS (yes, the newest flagship smartphone from Apple that launched just a few days ago).

And if you think prizes are only available in-store, think again. Every product showcased at the festival can be purchased on iShopChangi, the airport’s online retail platform. Purchase any one of them online for a chance to win a bespoke party worth $5,000.
