Heritage hotels in Singapore: Newly-revamped Grand Park City Hall is the newest place to go for staycations

Grand Park City Hall

The newly refurbished hotel along Coleman Street embodies Singapore’s Peranakan heritage with a contemporary touch

We don’t know about you, but for us, a staycation experience feels a lot more meaningful when the chosen hotel accommodation hides a trove of undiscovered stories that are just waiting to be told. Fortunately, plenty of heritage hotels in Singapore such as The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, Raffles Hotel, The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore, Six Senses Duxton and Ann Siang House still sit amidst tall, futuristic-looking skyscrapers, making up most of the island’s urban landscape. Adding to that list is the Grand Park City Hall hotel located along Coleman Street in Singapore’s Civic District, which was recently refurbished by RSP architects and design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA).

Grand Park City Hall
Let the heritage-inspired, modern touches invite you in

Bearing heritage-centric design elements that have been given a timeless, modern touch, the revamped Grand Park City Hall comprises 343 guestrooms across 10 floors. Its interiors are decked with Peranakan pattern tiles, vintage statement pieces and artwork reflecting local landmarks – elements that pay homage to the city’s rich past and varied cultures. Grand Park City Hall also forms part of City Hall Square, a three-storey lifestyle hub that houses a gamut of dining, beauty and fashion boutiques.

The hotel sets itself apart from its counterparts through technology. Guests can download an integrated Grand Park City Hall app onto their smartphone, from which they can control all aspects of lighting, air conditioning, TV operations and more. The app also allows for digital check-in, so guests can head straight to their room with their digital key.

The Park Suite and Presidential Suite offer guests access to the exclusive Crystal Club, which offers complimentary all-day refreshments, evening cocktails and meeting facilities. Additionally, these suites are also furnished with deep bathtubs, and extend into individual private gardens. Guests with little ones can opt for the hotel’s newer rooms, which offer families six pairs of inter-connecting child-friendly rooms. These spaces are fully equipped with colourful beanbags, low-level clothes hooks, an activity desk, a magnetic blackboard wall and rolling paper for young children to creatively express themselves. Other highlights within Grand Park City Hall include new gym facilities and equipment, a new swimming pool, as well as a rooftop garden event space.

To celebrate the launch of the new Grand Park City Hall, guests checking-in from now to 31st December 2018 will enjoy 25 per cent off the best available room rate, inclusive of daily $15 dining credit. Check-in with Grand Park City Hall mobile application and receive an additional $10 dining credit.
