At Home With Robb

Within each half-hour session, we’ll get to know industry leaders a little better and shine the spotlight on the year’s novelties. Watch this space to get the latest updates on Happy Hour With Robb

The adage, ‘time and tide wait for none’, rings true for the horological industry, and many watch connoisseurs would concur. The current global crisis has seen world-renowned luxury watchmakers push themselves through adversities in recent months, parting from tradition and turning to the digital sphere to release the year’s novelties. However, the pleasure gained from purchasing a fine timepiece can only be derived from physical interaction, whether it’s touching and admiring the watch in the metal, trying it on or learning its story from its very own makers.

Which is why we’re introducing our brand-new Happy Hour With Robb series, a webinar where we feature watchmaking’s most brilliant minds and discover what makes them tick. While you won’t get to try your hands on any new timepieces, you’ll be invited to get up close and personal with the watch industry’s head honchos.

With this series, we will take a closer look at various luxury novelties set for the year, and understand which models should be on every watch connoisseur’s radar.

Our first session kicked off on 19 May 2020, where we invited A. Lange & Söhne’s director of product development, Anthony de Haas, for a drink. Together with Karishma Tulsidas, editor-in-chief of Robb Report Singapore, he dived deep into what makes an A. Lange & Söhne watch so coveted today.

Within the half-hour webinar, viewers were also acquainted with two new reiterations of A. Lange & Söhne timepieces – the Odysseus and Zeitwerk Minute Repeater that were recently seen at Watches & Wonders 2020. Other renowned industry leaders who have made appearances on Happy Hour With Robb over the weeks include Christian Knoop, IWC Schaffhausen’s creative director; Max Sirena, team director and skipper of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team and a Panerai friend-of-the-brand, and Max Büsser of MB&F along with Edouard Meylan of H. Moser & Cie. They were also joined by Kenneth Tan, editor-in-chief of Robb Report Malaysia, and Celine Yap, our watches and jewellery editor.

Not to worry if you’ve missed out our past sessions – we’ve got a few more lined up for you. For our sixth session on 16 June 2020 (Tuesday), Davide Cerrato, managing director of Montblanc’s watch business unit, will be taking the hot seat. Cerrato will let us in the world of exploration and share how adventure lies at the heart of the German watchmaker’s ethos.
