Unveiled at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Maserati MCPURA is a redesign of the MC20, and a bold, beautiful evolution of the Trident’s racing soul
Leave it to Maserati to remind us that the soul of a true super sports car lies not purely in the numbers, but in the sensation. At this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Italian marque debuted its newest creation, the Maserati MCPURA; an all-new expression of driving purity that blends artistry with engineering in equal measure.
And “MCPURA” is no arbitrary name. It’s a statement of intent. Building on the MC20’s raw performance DNA, this new model dials up the elegance and aerodynamics, with improved handling, a stronger design identity, and a deeper emotional pull—all while retaining the blistering 3.0-litre V6 Nettuno engine at its core. With 630 CV and a top speed of over 325 km/h, the MCPURA is every bit the track-ready thoroughbred, wrapped in an even more sophisticated shell.

This shell is lightweight, rigid, and designed to slice through the air with elegance. The carbon-fibre monocoque structure remains central to its construction, but nearly every panel and surface has been revised for function and beauty. The now signature butterfly doors remain, opening upward with cinematic flair, while the redesigned front and rear ends bring the car closer in aesthetic to Maserati’s iconic race cars of the past, as well as their new generation of electric vehicles.

The MCPURA Cielo (its open-top sibling) takes things a step further. With a retractable smart glass roof that transitions from opaque to transparent in just one second, the convertible is engineered for the elements but uncompromising on rigidity and refinement. Whether tearing through a mountain pass or idling by the coast, it’s a masterclass in form meeting freedom.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in carbon fibre, Alcantara, and precision-stitched leather. The all-digital interface remains clean and intuitive, with few distractions from what truly matters: the driving experience. That said, Maserati hasn’t scrimped on tech; wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected services, and a Sonus Faber sound system ensure every journey is as connected as it is visceral.
Adding to its exclusivity, Maserati is offering extensive personalisation options through its Fuoriserie customisation programme. One of the most eye-catching results of this is the Ai Aqua Rainbow paint seen on the debut car at Goodwood—a colour so prismatic, it appears to shift with the sun. It is a nod to Italy’s flair for drama as much a fashion statement.
While pricing hasn’t been officially disclosed, we expect it to sit comfortably above the outgoing MC20, and justifiably so; the MCPURA is a reawakening. As Maserati leans into its second century with a new design language and forthcoming EV ambitions, the MCPURA stands proudly as a bridge between past and future. It’s a celebration of the Trident’s racing pedigree, refined for today’s roads… and tomorrow’s collectors.
