Be a part of Silverlake’s new gated houseboat community, set within hundreds of acres of lakes and woodland
Recent years have shown a growing appetite for houseboat living, with the market valued at US$25,500 million in 2024 and an anticipated US$38,838.73 million by 2032. While such homes haven’t been celebrated for their looks, Silverlake, a luxury holiday home developer in Dorset, is turning heads with the UK’s first architect-designed houseboats.
Set in the picturesque countryside of South West England, Silverlake’s new development blends nature-adjacent living with sophistication. As a secure, gated community set within hundreds of acres of lakes and woodland, residents will enjoy access to tennis courts, nature trails and of course, water sports.

The boutique collection features four designs, equally contributed by architecture firms Koto and Waterpod. Koto’s Scandinavian-inspired prefabricated style comes in the form of Uku, a cosy one-bedder that’s ideal for short stays, and Shio, a refined two-bedded residence that will better suit longer-term living. Waterpod, on the other hand, aims to make waterside living accessible through its Lutra series of two- and three-bedroom homes. Built by hand with eco-friendly materials, they are Waterpod’s most luxurious creation yet, with floor-to-ceiling windows, large open-plan living areas and an expansive roof deck for uninterrupted views.

Only 10 moorings are available, each subjected to a 10-year lease and located opposite a new Silverlake Lido and Clubhouse, where an outdoor heated pool, waterside restaurant and spa await. There’s even a fully managed holiday letting service to take advantage of, so you know your houseboat will always be loved somehow.
The houseboats will be available for purchase starting this July 2025, with prices beginning at £235,000 and occupancy aimed for spring 2026. Visit Silverlake to register your interest. Featured photo by Waterpod
