Björn Frantzén’s second foray into Singapore is open from 25 July 2023 and is now officially open for reservations

If you’re familiar with three Michelin-starred Restaurant Zén but prefer the option to lose the tie, this article will read like good tidings. A quick memory jog of Restaurant Zén: A nine-course menu starting from S$450. Not that you need further convincing, the OG three-star Restaurant Frantzén ranks 30th on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. This time, Swedish chef Björn Frantzén is set to debut the Singapore outpost of the first Brasserie Astoria outside Sweden. Though mirroring the Stockholm flagship, it’s slated to be a more relaxed rendition while serving a standard worthy of bearing the Frantzén Group’s name.

Finding its sweet spot amid the grandeur of the Victoria Concert Hall, the restaurant houses 100 seats, a private dining room for 10, and a bar and lounge that seats 22 guests. Expect flambé trolleys, tableside service, and Frantzén’s own take on classic brasserie fare. In terms of the culinary lineup: the likes of Råraka, the Swedish answer to rösti, features crisp Agria potatoes topped with vendace roe; namesake Toast Astoria is a nod to traditional Swedish Toast Skagen with mounds of Baltic prawns and Norwegian king crab dressed with wasabi aioli, served atop crisp sourdough.

Besides an extensive à la carte menu executed by Singaporean head chef and Zén alum Emil Cecil Ess, and a wine list to match, the cocktail menu resounds with a mix of Nordic focus and Asian influences. This launch stands alongside an expanding collection with Björn Frantzén Shanghai, FZN Dubai, and Studio Frantzén Dubai this year. Singapore welcomes patrons from 25 July 2023 and is now officially open for reservations.
