In 2004, Harry Winston redefined sport-luxury timepieces with its Ocean collection, celebrated for the ability to blend technical watchmaking with bold, elegant, and occasionally gem-set designs.

This year, the collection releases three new Project Z11 variations. Each watch, encased in high-tech Zalium, measures 42mm in diameter and 10.6mm in height, featuring a sporty satin-brushed finish to resist scratches. Zalium—an alloy derived from aerospace engineering, renowned for its lightweight nature and corrosion resistance—houses the intricate dials that reveal striking architectural elements, highlighted by vibrant tri-coloured accents and luminous details.

Project Z11 draws inspiration from the iconic Manhattan Bridge, admired for its material and engineering excellence, and reflects founder Harry Winston’s connection to New York, where he opened his first boutique in 1932. The watch’s design features horizontal bridges spanning the dial, echoing the suspension bridge’s steel towers and trusses. These bridges support off-centre hour and minute discs at noon and a large date display at 6 o’clock.

Beneath the suspended time and date displays lies a rhodium-plated platform adorned with radiant Côtes de Genève, radiating from the axis of the hour and minute hands and expanding towards the dial’s edge. White gold hour indexes frame a black grid at noon, each filled with black luminescent coating and, depending on the model, tipped with light blue, beige, or turquoise luminescence to match the hour and minute hands.

Adding to the dial’s visual treat is the signature 18-carat gold Harry Winston emerald appliqué at noon, which is also luminescent for visibility in low light. The black grid hosts a perpetually rotating Shuriken small seconds hand, energising the display.

The big date complication, renowned for its clarity and ease of reading, is positioned at 6 o’clock, with a double aperture displaying large luminescent numerals. The Z11 reveals its dual calendar discs through an intriguing cutaway, where they rotate independently yet align perfectly to show the current date.

Each variant of the watch features vibrant hues: the first with bright yellow bridges, light blue luminescent indexes, and a raspberry red alligator strap with light blue rubber trim. The second combines deep blue bridges with sandy beige luminescent accents and a khaki alligator strap with black rubber trim. The third presents lively red bridges, turquoise luminescent details, and a grey alligator strap with black rubber trim.

The sapphire crystal case back reveals the workings of a mechanical calibre HW3206, an automatic movement with a 65-hour power reserve, and powered by an 18-carat white gold open-worked rotor.
