Golfers are rubbing their palms with glee at TaylorMade Golf Company’s new fairway-seeking Stealth 2 drivers

An improved version of the 2022 model, TaylorMade’s Stealth 2 promises performance gains on ball speed and distance while increasing levels of ‘forgiveness’

A good start, as the adage goes, is half the battle won. And especially during tee-off, when having the right driver to help set the ball in a full, purposeful flight can instantly set the tone for a lovely day out on the course.

It has been reported that when Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy ranked as the world’s best golfers in 2022, both men had TaylorMade’s Stealth drivers in their arsenal, dispatching their hits at astounding speed and incredible distances.

This year, TaylorMade is upping the ante with Stealth 2. An improved version of the 2022 model, Stealth 2 promises performance gains on ball speed and distance while increasing levels of ‘forgiveness’ (the term for a golf club’s engineering that helps negate poorly struck shots). What this translates to is an instant upgrade to your tee-offs, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned enthusiast.

Stealth 2 features a modified iteration of the 60X Carbon Twist Face, encased in a polyurethane nanotexture cover, and an upgraded Inverted Cone Technology (ICT)—two innovations that made last year’s Stealth a winner. Featuring a face with thinner edges and a larger area at the centre, the new ICT helps to better mitigate off-centre strikes as well as register better speed and forgiveness.

Another important feature of Stealth 2 is its carbon construction. It is the first driver in TaylorMade’s history that has more carbon (including composites) than any other material by volume. This allows the constructors to adjust the driver’s mass to optimise playability.

“A primarily carbon-based head construction is revolutionising where we are able to position mass in a driver,” Tomo Bystedt, TaylorMade’s senior director of product creation, said in a statement. “This allows us to finely tune the launch, spin and moment of inertia (forgiveness) in each of the three Stealth 2 driver models.”

The three models consist of Stealth 2 for the everyday golfer; Stealth 2 HD, which is the lowest spinning driver in the family; and Stealth 2 Plus, which is best suited for advanced golfers. All three models are sheathed in sexy, competition-ready red-and-black, so that you can upstage the competition even before you step onto the green to take your first shot.
