The Rolling Stones’ new limited-edition rum: Crossfire Hurricane

You can’t always get what you want, unless what you want is this bottle

Apparently, you’re never too old to launch a celebrity spirits brand, as evidenced by the octogenarian Rolling Stones introducing their Crossfire Hurricane Rum late last autumn. Now the band is dropping a new limited-edition bottle and gift set to mark their Hackney Diamonds U.S. tour that just kicked off, and we have the details.

The Stones might be the biggest celebs to launch a rum brand, but they are not the first. Bruno Mars is the pretty face and voice behind Selva Rey, Ciara joined the Ten to One team as an investor and co-owner, Kenny Chesney hawks flavoured rum that tastes like sun tan lotion with his Blue Chair Bay brand, and Sammy Hagar has proven he’s not just a tequila maven with his Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum.

Crossfire Hurricane Rum launched last November as a partnership between the Stones, Universal Music Group, and Socio Ventures, a company dedicated to creating “new-to-world celebrity-owned beverages”. As far as the actual liquid in the bottle, there’s not a whole lot of specific information, which isn’t surprising, just that it’s a blend of rum from Jamaica, Barbados, and the Dominican Republic (all known for making very good rum) that was “perfectly aged in carefully selected oak barrels.” The Point Distillery in Florida is responsible for bottling the rum, according to a press release from CEO Spencer Wolf. Official tasting notes describe caramelised bananas and tropical fruit on the palate, and suggested cocktails include a Gold and Stormy (Dark ‘n Stormy is trademarked by Goslings) and Crossfire Espresso Martini.

The new limited-edition Hackney Diamonds gift set is a box containing a special black glass bottle of Crossfire Hurricane Rum featuring the signature Rolling Stones tongue on the front along with the regular bottle. “This commemorative box set of Crossfire Hurricane Rum is not just a celebration of our U.S. tour, but a toast to the incredible journey we’ve shared with our fans,” said The Stones in a statement. The brand will host post-show parties along the Hackney Diamonds tour, which just kicked off last weekend, and you can enter a sweepstakes at the Crossfire Hurricane Rum website to win a pair of tickets to see the Stones in Santa Clara, California on July 17.

You can purchase Crossfire Hurricane Rum now from ReserveBar. The gift box will be rolling out nationwide as the Stones continue their tour and will be available to purchase directly from the website. If you make it to one of the shows, you can also purchase it using the QR code on digital billboards and have it delivered directly to your home.
