Marking the brand’s first foray into the Lion City, The Standard, Singapore invites guests to check in and tune out in one of Asia’s most dynamic cities
Did someone say ‘urban oasis’? Because The Standard, Singapore understood the brief perfectly. This vibrant new opening marks the brand’s fifth outpost in Asia Pacific, right here in the heart of town. Perched just steps away from the UNESCO-listed Botanic Gardens on Orange Grove Road, the hotel brings with it the brand’s signature irreverence, creative flair, and cosmopolitan cool.

Joining the likes of its award-winning siblings in Hua Hin and Bangkok, this latest venture has been conceived top to toe as an urban sanctuary—a lush, ground-up build with 143 rooms and suites dripping in tropical modernism. A layered architectural narrative unfolds as guests move through the space: from garden walkways dotted with art installations, to a lobby anchored by a terrarium-inspired centrepiece, conceived by none other than artist Eric Tobua, aptly titled Dreamscape.

That same dreamlike quality was brought to life at the hotel’s grand opening—a spectacle that blurred the line between art, design, and performance. Tobua’s fantastical world extended into the gardens: think bubbles floating through the air, flower dancers, synchronised swimmers costumed as lotus blossoms, and a camouflaged pianist emerging from a wall of leaves to serenade guests.
The evening’s crescendo? A spellbinding operatic performance by soprano Felicia Teo, her voice soaring through the garden in a glowing tiger lily-inspired gown. In other words, exactly the sort of unexpected moment The Standard is known—and adored—for.
Inside, the experience continues with a trio of dining destinations that blur form and function. Kaya at The Standard offers a bold reinterpretation of the Japanese izakaya, pairing regional ingredients with refined flair and an inventive cocktail programme.
Next door, Kaya Bar dials up the mood with sultry vibes and late-night pours. And at street level, Café Standard keeps things laid-back and buzzy with crave-worthy American fare and natural wines in a breezy bistro setting.

“Singapore is going through an incredibly dynamic period,” says Amar Lalvani, President and Creative Director of Hyatt. “It’s emerging as a global cultural and creative hub—perfect for The Standard.”
General manager Amy Lu, who brings with her almost two decades of reputed leadership experience in hospitality across Asia, echoes the same sentiments. “We’ve already made our mark on the city’s cultural and social landscape; I’m honoured and beyond thrilled to lead The Standard, Singapore at such an incredible moment of momentum and possibility.”

And we agree. With its otherworldly debut and pulse on all things now, The Standard, Singapore is anything but ordinary. What it offers is a provocative invitation to experience the city through a more playful, design-forward lens—and we suspect it will set the tone for what’s next.
