Trafalgar now offers river cruises

Enjoy a leisurely cruise along the Rhine and Danube with Trafalgar, blending cultural discovery, responsible travel, and comfort

A river cruise with no more than 200 guests gently gliding along tranquil waterways offers the perfect escape for relaxation. These journeys focus on immersing you in local culture—perhaps through guided walking tours, wine tastings, and visits to historic landmarks—rather than overwhelming you with nonstop onboard entertainment. It’s a laid-back way to explore, connect, and unwind.

Building on their reputation for expertly guided land tours and authentic travel experiences, Trafalgar is now stepping into the world of river cruising. Launching in spring 2026, they will debut two journeys along Europe’s iconic Rhine and Danube rivers—an extension of their signature care and cultural immersion.

Trafalgar’s inaugural cruises include an eight-day journey along the Danube aboard the Trafalgar Reverie and a ten-day voyage along the Rhine on the Trafalgar Verity. The Reverie’s route takes guests from Budapest to Passau, offering a chance to explore Europe’s rich history and vibrant cultures. Highlights include visiting Budapest’s historic landmarks, experiencing Bratislava’s medieval charm, and indulging in Vienna’s renowned café culture.

Meanwhile, the Trafalgar Verity offers a charming 1930s ambiance, with rich blue and white fabrics, marble bathrooms, and boutique hotel elegance. Its route from Basel to Amsterdam features iconic sights like the UNESCO-listed Cologne Cathedral, the scenic Middle Rhine Gorge, and Strasbourg’s picturesque old town.

Both cruises accommodate 128 guests and include signature Trafalgar moments—local experts sharing deep insights, authentic “Be My Guest” experiences connecting travellers with locals, and at least one ‘Make Travel Matter’ activity supporting sustainable development goals.

Though it is a leisurely river cruise, the onboard entertainment can rival that of any large ocean cruise, with regional performances, baking demonstrations, wellness activities like yoga, and complimentary bicycles for exploring outside the ship. And of course, there’s plenty of regional cuisine to savour throughout the journey.
