Rooftop bars in Thailand: Moon Bar at Banyan Tree Bangkok reopens with glitzy cocktails and a glass bridge after an extensive renovation

Moon Bar - Banyan Tree Bangkok

The luxury hotel in the city’s capital brings the mixology scene to greater heights

Bangkok’s skyline has become that bit more stunning. Not only do you have The Peninsula Bangkok, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, which opened late last year, you’ve also got Mezzaluna leading the fine dining scene as well as the The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Bangkok and the upcoming Orient Express both occupying King Power Mahanakhon, the city’s tallest building. Joining the fray for an extra dose of excitement in 2019 is Banyan Tree Bangkok’s Moon Bar, which recently reopened following extensive renovations.

Occupying level 61 of the hotel, regulars to the rooftop skybar will notice that they’ll be welcomed by a new entrance. The best views can be admired from Moon Walk, a vantage point for those who want to feel on top of the world, get some fresh air or just to get away from the crowd. Take note though – Moon Walk is a small glass jetty that juts out from the building, so those with a fear of heights may want to pass on this.

Drinks can be ordered from the 360-degree bar, which has been designed in the shape of a diamond. New cocktail offerings will also be offered, and while we could describe them to you and paint a rosy picture, the best way to learn about them would be to head down and try it out for yourselves.
