Pierre Cardin stars in a new documentary

Why you should care: Legendary fashion designer Pierre Cardin, who turned 98 in July, is no stranger to the public eye – he is known for his ’60s futuristic fashion, and for frequently shocking the world with his radical overhauling of haute couture. Now, the prolific designer stars in a new documentary, House of Cardin, which showcases his seminal life and work in fascinating detail. Directed by Todd Hughes and P. David Ebersole, the documentary features exclusive interviews with Cardin himself, his closest collaborators, protégés like Jean-Paul Gaultier and Philippe Starck, as well as stars he’s dressed, such as Naomi Campbell and Sharon Stone.

The Collina Strada x Browns exclusive capsule collection is made from T-shirts destined for Ghanaian landfills

Why you should care: There are few fashion brands more dedicated to sustainability than Collina Strada. The New York label’s latest exclusive capsule collection with British fashion brand Browns is made from discarded second-hand clothing purchased at Ghana’s Kantamanto market in Accra. Through an ongoing partnership with The OR Foundation – a US-based non-profit organisation that explores the second-hand clothing trade in Ghana – Collina Strada has successfully repurposed fabrics which would otherwise have ended up in landfills. Both Collina Strada and Browns will be donating a percentage of the wholesale cost to The OR Foundation.

On its caseback, a Nekton submarine medallion is engraved with Omega’s Naiad Lock. A new high-tech face mask by LG that purifies the air you breathe in

Why you should care: LG’s PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier is a lightweight face mask equipped with two H13 HEPA filters that protect you from airborne pathogens. More impressively, the mask also comes with two fans that adjust their speed according to the wearer’s own rate of breathing, so that it feels more comfortable and breathable. It can also last for up to eight hours on low-power mode, powered by a rechargeable 820mAh battery. Cleaning the mask isn’t going to be much of a hassle either, as the PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier comes with a storage case that has ultraviolet LED lights to clean its surface while charging. LG plans to start selling the high-tech face mask in select markets by the end of the year.
